Job Posting: Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) Acute Care Director of Nursing

Supervise day-to-day operations of the psychiatric inpatient unit, from supervising nursing staff, behavioral health
technicians and monitoring patient care. This includes overseeing budgets for the unit, including personnel, supplies and
other expenses ensuring the department is well-stocked with medical supplies, including medications and equipment
setting work schedules, delegation of assignments, assigning tasks and evaluating employee job performance. This
position provides direct supervision and coordination of the Nursing department and oversight of the Behavioral Health
Technician services and activities to ensure quality patient care by establishing standards monitoring patient care to ensure
it meets the facilities standards and reviewing patient records to analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of the care
provided by the unit. Manages and assumes 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the nursing department staff.
Manages the unit(s) in accordance with established policy and procedure, State and Federal regulations, to promote high
quality care and service. Must possess a current unrestricted Florida license as a Registered Nurse. Minimum of (3) three
years within the past (5) five years in a psychiatric facility preference of 3 years of administrative supervision experience.
Additionally, experience in the substance abuse arena is preferred. Must have working knowledge of the Nurse Practice
Act nursing standards and treatment interventions for psychiatric and substance use clients. Must possess a current
unrestricted Florida license as a Registered Nurse and have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Licensed RN
(in accordance with FS 464) and/or BS in nursing, board certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing desired. If
applicable, must provide a copy each two years of his/her renewed license. This is a requirement for entitlement to
employment. The principles and practices of crisis intervention, basic knowledge of the Florida Mental Health Act,
scheduling staff, Nurse Practice Act and nursing standards. The Florida Mental Health Act, signs and symptoms of
substance abuse and basic psychotropic medications. Both medical complexities including HIV/AIDS, Dementia,
Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, and physical disabilities and special postulations (women, seniors, veterans, and those from
outside of the USA) and how it might impact a person’s overall functioning and their treatment plan. Working knowledge
of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards desired. Knowledge of crisis stabilization care management,
policies, budgeting, personnel management, and census development is desired. The ideal candidate will have experience
in applying Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques and knowledge of designated facility (locked psychiatric unit).
