POSITION SUMMARY: This position will work with persons experiencing substance use disorders in a pilot Ambulatory Detoxification Outpatient Program. This position will be providing substance use group counseling, psychosocial rehabilitation services to teach strategies for living substance free. This position will collaborate with person served to develop a relapse prevention plan as part of a Recovery Oriented System of Care approach to recovery.
Persons served in this program experience a variety of social, and psychiatric needs which are addressed through coordination with Bridgeway Center, Inc. (BCI) and other community service agencies. The applicant selected for this position must be comfortable working as a member of a treatment team and able to manage a therapeutic milieu.
The Ambulatory Detoxification Program is funded by revenue appropriated by the State of Florida and Okaloosa County. Employment is contingent upon continued funding of this program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related human service field. Experience working in direct behavioral health care services preferred. Applicant must be able to pass the background screenings for the Agency for Healthcare Administration and the Florida Department of Children and Families, a urine drug screen, and a Tuberculosis test. Applicant must also have a valid Florida Driver License with no more than three (3) points on their driving record and be able to be insured under BCI’s automobile insurance policy.
- Provide psychosocial rehabilitation groups
- Provide Substance Use groups
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and communicate appropriately with referral sources and community partners
- Conduct transition and discharge planning
- Provide individuals with linkages to other supportive social services
- Maintain appropriate and accurate documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
WORK LOCATION: Fort Walton Beach (FWB)
WORK HOURS: Ten (10) hour Shifts 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Rotating Four (4) days on and four (4) days off
WAGE: The wage for this position is $18.00 per hour.
